Replacing a consumer unit in domestic premises in England or Wales is notifiable work under the Building Regulations. This means you should look for an electrician who is registered with an electrical self-certification scheme prescribed in the regulations, such as NICEIC.

New fuse boards are usually fitted with and RCD (Residual Current Device) that will instantly disconnect the electricity supply in dangerous conditions by tripping the circuit.

We will need to come to your property to carry out an estimate for you. We need to take a few things into consideration including the materials that will be needed, making sure that any pre-existing equipment complies with regulations, time involved in testing the circuits and allowance for fault finding.

Please don't be tempted into using someone who is not a qualified electrician to carry out your consumer unit replacement. As certified electricians we must comply with strict regulations to ensure your health and safety. Paying below market value usually means that work is not carried out does not comply with these regulations.

Certification

After any new installation we will issue a certificate to ensure that work complies with all the necessary standards and regulations. We will also provide a separate certificate to ensure that work complies with Part P of the Building Regulations.
